When you become a mother, everyone seems to have advice for you.
- “Try this.”
- “Don’t worry about that.”
- “That’s normal.”
- “Babies get dry skin.”
And when you have twins, the advice seems to double!
But somewhere along my journey with my boys, I learned something I wish every mother was told sooner: You know your baby better than anyone.
My boys were born prematurely, and from the very beginning, I became incredibly aware of how delicate they were. Their skin was one of the things I watched closely.
I noticed the little changes.
When their skin felt different.
When it looked drier than usual.
When something I was using didn’t seem quite right.
At first, I questioned myself.
Am I overthinking this?
Am I being too cautious?
Maybe this is just normal baby skin?
But I started listening to that little voice inside me — the one that said, “Something needs more attention.”
And I realised that trusting my intuition didn’t mean ignoring doctors, advice or experience. It meant paying attention to my babies and asking questions when something didn’t feel right.
That experience changed me.
It was one of the reasons I became so passionate about creating Nkoala Baby Love by Nature — because I wanted baby skincare to come from a place of understanding, gentleness and intention.
Especially for our beautiful melanin-rich littles, whose skin can sometimes show dryness differently and whose needs deserve to be understood, not overlooked.
